AI Promise
How QuickSummer uses AI, what it will never do, and how to opt out.
The film industry is rightly cautious about AI. The 2023 strikes drew a line, and most working filmmakers, writers, and performers we talk to are unwilling to use platforms that compromise on it. This page is our position. If we ever break any of these promises, we expect — and want — you to call us out.
1. What AI does on this platform
We use AI for convenience and recommendation only. Every AI surface is labelled with a small [AI] chip so you can see at a glance whether a feature is AI-touched. Specifically:
- Translation — when you save a project, idea, pitch, or classified in a non-English language, we use Google Gemini to render an English version alongside your original. Your original is always preserved and shown first.
- Idea brainstorming — variations on a logline you already wrote, generated only when you press the brainstorm button.
- Title suggestions — alternatives to a working title, generated only when you press the suggest button.
- Comparable film suggestions — suggested reference titles based on genre and budget tier you entered.
- AI News — automated news brief on industry-relevant topics; clearly labelled as AI-summarised on every card.
2. What AI will never do here
- We will never train a model on your content. Your loglines, scripts, calculator inputs, pitches, and saved projects are never sent to any model provider for training. They are only sent to a model when you trigger an AI feature on that specific item (e.g., translation on save, brainstorm on click).
- AI is recommendation, never decision. No financing, distribution, casting, or greenlight outcome is decided by an AI model. The Greenlight Score is a deterministic formula, not a model output. AI never approves or rejects a project.
- We will never synthesise a voice, likeness, or performance. Generative voice cloning, deepfakes, AI-generated actor performances, and AI-rewritten scripts are not features of this platform and will not be added.
- We will never publish AI-generated content as if it were human-written. If something is AI-summarised (like AI News), it carries the
[AI] chip everywhere it appears.
- We will never use AI to score, rank, or filter members of the platform. Karma, badges, tier, and visibility are determined by your own actions and outcomes — not by a model deciding who deserves attention.
3. How to opt out
- Translation — set your project's Language Strategy to "Original only (no translation)" in the calculator's language section. We will not call the Gemini API for that project.
- Brainstorm / title suggestion / comparable suggestion — these are user-triggered. If you don't press the button, no AI call is made.
- AI News — opt out from the news feed via the news settings panel; you'll see only manually-curated industry links.
- Account-wide opt-out: email privacy@quicksummer.com and we'll flag your account so AI features are disabled by default.
4. Sub-processors we use for AI
- Google LLC (Gemini API) — translation, brainstorming, title and comparable suggestions, news summarisation. policies.google.com/privacy
Text sent to Gemini is processed under Google's API terms, which prohibit Google from using your input to train Google's models when accessed via the paid Gemini API. We do not use any other AI sub-processor.
5. If we add a new AI feature
We will (a) update this page first, (b) ship the feature with the [AI] chip from day one, and (c) email all account holders if the change introduces a new sub-processor. We will not silently roll out new AI surfaces.
6. Contact
If you spot an AI surface that isn't labelled, or you believe a promise on this page has been broken: privacy@quicksummer.com. We will fix or explain within 7 days.
