In search of a new distributor for Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11"

"Fahrenheit 9/11" by Michael Moore, the notorious Academy Award winner, is stirring up controversies even before its release and premiere in Cannes. As the documentary about American political life after the tragic September day is sharply critical of President Bush, linking him with powerful Saudi families, The Walt Disney Co. objected to distributing the film, being apprehensive of the reactions. Bob and Harvey Weinstein, co-chairmen of the studios daughter company Miramax Films, have therefore decided to buy out the film, paying back in full the Miramax's interest in the film ($ 5 - 6m), in order to start looking for a new distributor.
